QuikVue Vet Case Share - persistent pupillary membranes (PPMs)

01/30/26

We are glad to share a vet case study captured by QuikVue eye imaging adaptor from Dr. Allison Fuchs.

Worms in the eyes? NOPE! Much prettier - these are persistent pupillary membranes (PPMs). PPMs are a remnant of fetal vascular tissue that is supposed to regress during development and sometimes fails to go away completely. This kitten has VERY dramatic PPMs, and he can see out of this eye! It just looks amazing. Sometimes these can lead to cataracts or corneal opacities, but there's nothing to worry about in this eye.
