QuikVue Vet Case Study—Corneal Sequestrum

02/12/25

We are glad to share a vet case study captured by QuikVue eye imaging adaptor from Dr.Allison Fuchs.

Another cat, another sequestrum! This one is in a Himalayan kitty. A corneal sequestrum is a piece of dead, necrotic cornea that turns brown and causes discomfort. These occur almost exclusively in cats, generally associated with chronic irritation, feline herpes virus, or being a smush-faced kitty. They can eventually heal without surgery, but may take months. Surgery generally results in a much faster healing time. Depending on the depth of the lesion, we may or may not graft the cornea with the cat’s own adjacent corneal tissue or adjunctive bio-scaffold materials like Amnion or BioSis. This sequestrum was fairly shallow, so it received a simple amnion graft and we are looking forward to seeing his progress over the next two weeks!

Slit-Lamp TBUT: Capture, Measure, and Track Trends With EyeStream and VisuDoc

TBUT at the slit lamp often stays in the moment. EyeStream records fluorescein-enhanced tear film video on your compatible lamp. In VisuDoc, measure TBUT from saved clips, log values to the chart, and review trend curves across visits—without changing your exam workflow.

Upgrade Your Slit Lamp to Digital Imaging System

Traditional slit lamps support examination through the eyepiece—but not photo, video, or stored images at the exam. EyeStream adds digital capture to compatible lamps you already use, with VisuDoc workflow, eyepiece-aligned focus, and a built-in yellow filter—without replacing the full slit-lamp system.

Why Optometrists Can Offer iFlo Dry Eye Mask for Better Home Compliance

iFlo gives optometrists a practical at-home warm compress option for dry eye patients. By making home heat therapy easier to explain and repeat, it can help improve patient compliance and may support symptom relief within clinician-directed dry eye management.
