QuikVue Vet Case Share-Ocular Thelaziosis in an Australian Shepherd

06/24/25

We are glad to share a vet case study captured by QuikVue eye imaging adaptor from Dr Vet Viroux.

Thelaziosis is a parasitic disease caused by the nematode Thelazia callipaeda, which affects the eyes. It leads to conjunctivitis or even ulcerative keratoconjunctivitis. This vector-borne disease is transmitted by a drosophila (Phortica variegata).

Cats and dogs are definitive hosts, while humans can be accidental hosts. First reported in France 20 years ago, initially in the Southwest, it is now increasingly found across the country. Consider it in your ophthalmologic exams.
